For the last month or so I’ve been a little pre-occupied with packing up the flat in London. As I prepare to move back home to Melbourne (via the summer in Europe along the way), I probably shouldn’t have been surprised that most of my packing effort was directed towards wrapping up pre-set blocks of type, and securing the trays for the long trip home.
The removalists finally came yesterday, the flat is nearly empty and I’m about to undertake the trip of a lifetime, cycling for 10 weeks through France, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic and Germany….. phew!
So – the blog will not be getting much attention in the coming months, but here are a few of my favourite letterpress spots you should check out in the meantime…
To pack the trays, I ended up stuffing newspaper into each compartment, then securing it with cardboard and cling-film wrapping. It was a lot of effort, and I am in debt to my helper bees. It does seem to be quite effective at holding everything in place – so fingers crossed – but my final judgement will be reserved until the safe arrival at the other end!
Oh excellent, I’ve been wondering how you were going to tackle this! Great job! Enjoy your next adventure. xx
